Introduced by Thor Dalebø of Normandy, France, France in 2006, Canna (Balisier) ‘Hilary Owens’ is a small Premier Group cultivar; green foliage, ovoid shaped, acute apex, branching habit; oval main stems, coloured green; flowers are open, self-coloured deep coral, staminodes are large, edges ruffled, petals red, fully self-cleaning, outstanding bloomer, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, not self-pollinating or true to type, capsules globose; rhizomes are thick, up to 3 cm in diameter, coloured white; tillering is average.
