Introduced by Thor Dalebø of Normandy, France, France in 2006, Canna (Balisier) ‘Berenice Emsley’ is a medium sized Premier Group cultivar; green foliage, ovoid shaped, acute apex, maroon margin, branching habit; oval main stems, coloured green; triangular flower stalks, coloured green; flowers are open, self-coloured red, staminodes are large, edges ruffled, petals red with farina, fully self-cleaning, good bloomer, flowers in summer until frosts, blooms open in the evening; fertile both ways, not self-pollinating or true to type, capsules globose; rhizomes are thick, up to 3 cm in diameter, coloured purple; tillering is average.
