Introduced by Antoine Wintzer of The Conard & Jones Co., West Grove, Pennsylvania, USA, Canna (Balisier) ‘Statue of Liberty’ is a tall Italian Group cultivar; purple foliage, oval shaped, upright habit; round main stems, coloured purple; flowers are open, self-coloured carmine, staminodes are large, edges irregular, petals purple with farina, fully self-cleaning, blooms open in the early morning; seed is sterile, pollen is low fertile; rhizomes are thick, up to 3 cm in diameter, coloured purple; tillering is prolific.
