Introduced by Antoine Wintzer of The Conard & Jones Co., West Grove, Pennsylvania, USA, Canna (Balisier) ‘Brilliant’ is a small Crozy Group cultivar; green foliage, oblong shaped, branching habit; round main stems, coloured green; spikes of flowers are open, gold rayed with maroon, staminodes are medium size, edges regular, stamen is gold speckled with vermilion, style is gold, good bloomer, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, not self-pollinating or true to type, capsules globose; rhizomes are thick, up to 3 cm in diameter, coloured white and pink; tillering is slow.
