Introduced by Ernest Turc Nursery, Angers, France, Canna (Balisier) ‘La Quintinie’ is a small Crozy Group cultivar; green and purple variegated foliage, ovoid shaped, branching habit; clusters of flowers are open, apricot and deep-pink, staminodes are medium size, edges frilled, petals yellow, fully self-cleaning, good bloomer, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, not self-pollinating or true to type, capsules globose; rhizomes are thick, up to 3 cm in diameter, coloured white and pink; tillering is average.

This cultivar was described by Ian Cooke in quite poetic terms as having flowers which are large and gently ruffled giving an opulent effect. The overall colour is a deep apricot that is overlaid with brushstrokes of light red, creating a dazzling light orange effect. The foliage is green but with a bronze sheen and purple veins.Thor Dalebø
