Introduced by Dr. Robert J. Armstrong of Longwood Gardens, USA, Canna (Balisier) ‘Taney’ is a medium sized aquatic cultivar, equally at home as a water marginal or in the border; glaucous green foliage, lanceolate shaped, acuminate apex, upright habit; flowers are open, self-coloured orange, staminodes are narrow, edges regular, petals red with farina, fully self-cleaning, good bloomer, flowers in late summer until frosts, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, not self-pollinating or true to type, capsules globose; rhizomes are long and thin, coloured white and pink; tillering is slow.

A member of the Longwood Water Series series, Canna ‘Taney’ is available from specialist growers; breeding is unknown terrestial x C. glauca.
