Introduced by Alice Harris of Karchesky Canna, Pennsylvania, USA in 2011, Canna (Balisier) ‘Stars and Stripes’ is a medium sized Crozy Group cultivar; mid green foliage, ovoid shaped, acute apex, branching habit; clusters of flowers are open, gold heavily spotted with blood-red, staminodes are medium size, edges regular, petals green, fully self-cleaning, outstanding bloomer, flowers in summer until frosts, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, not self-pollinating or true to type, capsules globose; rhizomes are thick, up to 3 cm in diameter, coloured white and pink; tillering is good.
