Canna (Balisier) ‘South Pacific Scarlet’ is a medium sized Premier Group cultivar; green foliage, large, ovoid shaped, white margin, upright habit; oval main stems, coloured green; triangular flower stalks, coloured green; spikes of flowers are orange-red heavily spotted with scarlet, throat scarlet and cream, edges regular, labellum is scarlet with canary-yellow blotches, stamen is gold with scarlet spots, style is gold, petals red, fully self-cleaning, outstanding bloomer, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, true to type, not self-pollinating, capsules globose; rhizomes are thick, up to 3 cm in diameter, coloured white and purple; tillering is average.
