Introduced by Kew Gardens, London, England, Canna (Balisier) ‘Mystique’ is a tall Foliage Group cultivar; purple foliage, lanceolate shaped, upright habit; round main stems, coloured purple; spikes of flowers are erect, self-coloured cherry-red, staminodes are long and narrow, edges regular, petals purple with farina, fully self-cleaning, good bloomer, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, not self-pollinating or true to type, capsules globose; rhizomes are long and thin, coloured purple; tillering is prolific.
Canna ‘Mystique’was awarded AGM after trial at Wisley 2002; is generally available.
