Introduced by Pierre Antoine Marie Crozy of Crozy et fil, Lyon , France, Canna (Balisier) ‘Mine d’Or’ is a medium sized Crozy Group cultivar; mid green foliage, ovoid shaped, acute apex, branching habit; clusters of flowers are open, self-coloured canary-yellow, staminodes are medium size, edges regular, labellum is canary-yellow with rose-red spots, stamen is gold streaked with rose-red, style is gold, petals green, fully self-cleaning, good bloomer, flowers in late summer until frosts, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, not self-pollinating or true to type, capsules globose; rhizomes are thick, up to 3 cm in diameter, coloured white; tillering is good.
