Introduced by Bernard Yorke, Australia, Canna (Balisier) ‘Maverick Magenta’ is a medium sized Crozy Group cultivar; dark foliage, elliptical shaped, acute apex, branching habit; clusters of flowers are open, self-coloured cerise-pink, staminodes are medium size, edges regular, petals purple, fully self-cleaning, good bloomer, flowers in summer until frosts, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, not self-pollinating or true to type, capsules round; rhizomes are thick, up to 3 cm in diameter, coloured pink and purple; tillering is good.
