Canna (Balisier) ‘Marie Nagel’ is a medium sized Premier Group cultivar; mid green foliage, elliptical shaped, acute apex, spreading habit; clusters of flowers are cupped, vermilion with a narrow yellow margin, throat vermilion speckled with yellow, staminodes are large, edges ruffled, labellum is vermilion with yellow blotches, petals purple, fully self-cleaning, outstanding bloomer, flowers in summer until frosts, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, not self-pollinating or true to type, capsules globose; rhizomes are thick, up to 3 cm in diameter, coloured purple; tillering is good.
