Introduced by Vilmorin-Andrieux et Cie, Nurserymen, France in 1941, Canna (Balisier) ‘La Tamisier’ is a medium sized Crozy Group cultivar; bronze foliage, branching habit; oval main stems, coloured purple; clusters of flowers are open, self-coloured vermilion, staminodes are large, fully self-cleaning, good bloomer, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, not self-pollinating or true to type, capsules globose; rhizomes are thick, up to 3 cm in diameter, coloured purple; tillering is prolific.
