Introduced by Vilmorin-Andrieux et Cie, Nurserymen, France in 1940, Canna (Balisier) ‘La Sallice’ is a medium sized Crozy Group cultivar; foliage green; oval main stems, coloured green; spikes of flowers are open, sulphur-yellow streaked with greenish-yellow, staminodes are large, average bloomer, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, not self-pollinating or true to type, capsules globose; rhizomes are thick, up to 3 cm in diameter, coloured white and pink; tillering is slow.
