Introduced by Pierre Antoine Marie Crozy of Crozy et fil, Lyon , France, Canna (Balisier) ‘L.E. Bally’ is a medium sized cultivar; green foliage, broadly oblong shaped, white margin, spreading habit; oval main stems, coloured green; spikes of flowers are open, pale yellow heavily spotted with carmine, staminodes are medium size, edges regular, petals red, fully self-cleaning, outstanding bloomer, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, not self-pollinating or true to type, capsules globose; rhizomes are thick, up to 3 cm in diameter, coloured white and pink; tillering is prolific.

Canna ‘L.E. Bally’was awarded RHS Award of Merit 1894; is available from specialist growers.

This is a most distinct and pleasant variety, very rare but well worth the effort of acquiring if the oppurtunity presents itself._x000D_
