Introduced by Bernard Yorke, Australia, Canna (Balisier) ‘Howzat’ is a medium sized Australian Group cultivar; purple foliage, large, ovoid shaped, branching habit; oval main stems, coloured green + purple; spikes of flowers are pale yellow and gold, staminodes are medium size, edges lightly frilled, labellum is gold, petals yellow, fully self-cleaning, good bloomer, blooms open in the early morning; seed is sterile, pollen is low fertile; rhizomes are thick, up to 3 cm in diameter, coloured white; tillering is average.
