Introduced by Pierre Antoine Marie Crozy of Crozy et fil, Lyon , France in 1888, Canna (Balisier) ‘Enfant de Rhône’ is a small Crozy Group cultivar; green foliage, oval shaped, branching habit; round main stems, coloured green; flowers are open, pink rayed with cerise-pink, throat pale yellow, staminodes are medium size, edges regular, stamen is pink heavily spotted with pale yellow, petals pink, fully self-cleaning, low bloomer, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, not self-pollinating or true to type, capsules globose; rhizomes are thick, up to 3 cm in diameter, coloured white; tillering is prolific.
