Introduced by Captain Charles Frederick Cole, Australia, Canna (Balisier) ‘Effie Cole’ is a medium sized Crozy Group cultivar; mid green foliage, ovoid shaped, acute apex, branching habit; clusters of flowers are open, salmon with a narrow lemon margin, staminodes are medium size, edges irregular, petals green, fully self-cleaning, good bloomer, flowers in late summer until frosts, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, not true to type, self-pollinating, capsules globose; rhizomes are thick, up to 3 cm in diameter, coloured pink; tillering is slow.
