Canna (Balisier) ‘Dolly Gay’ is a medium sized cultivar; dark green foliage, oval shaped, branching habit; triangular main stems, coloured green; flowers are open, cardinal-red with a narrow cream margin, throat cream with cardinal-red spots, staminodes are medium size, edges irregular, petals red, fully self-cleaning, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, not self-pollinating or true to type, capsules globose; rhizomes are thick, up to 3 cm in diameter, coloured white and pink; tillering is slow.
