Introduced by Raphaël Roger, Belgium, Canna (Balisier) ‘Captain America’ is a medium sized Crozy Group cultivar; mid green foliage, lanceolate shaped, acute apex, transparent margin, upright habit; oval main stems, coloured green; half-round flower stalks, coloured green; clusters of flowers are open, apricot-orange and orange-yellow, staminodes are long and narrow, edges regular, petals green, not self-cleaning, good bloomer, flowers in summer until frosts, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, not self-pollinating or true to type, capsules globose; rhizomes are thick, up to 3 cm in diameter, coloured white and pink; tillering is good.
