Introduced by Pierre Antoine Marie Crozy of Crozy et fil, Lyon , France in 1888, Canna (Balisier) ‘Capricieux’ is a medium sized Crozy Group cultivar; green foliage, spreading habit; oval main stems, coloured green; spikes of flowers are open, orange-red with a yellow margin, staminodes are medium size, outstanding bloomer, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, not self-pollinating or true to type, capsules round; rhizomes are thick, up to 3 cm in diameter, coloured purple; tillering is average.

Canna ‘Capricieux’was awarded RHS First-class Certificate, 1888.; is available from specialist growers.
