Introduced by Pierre Antoine Marie Crozy of Crozy et fil, Lyon , France in 1862, Canna (Balisier) ‘Bonetti’ is a giant Foliage Group cultivar; green and purple variegated foliage, large, elliptical shaped, acute apex, maroon margin, branching habit; oval main stems, coloured purple + farina; flowers are cupped, orange with a maroon blush, staminodes are medium size, edges regular, petals red with farina, partial self-cleaning, good bloomer, flowers in late summer until frosts, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, not true to type, self-pollinating, capsules globose; rhizomes are thick, up to 7 cm in diameter, coloured pink and purple; tillering is prolific.
