Introduced by Vilmorin-Andrieux et Cie, Nurserymen, France in 1939, Canna (Balisier) ‘Beaulieu’ is a medium sized cultivar; light green foliage, elliptical shaped, spreading habit; round main stems, coloured green; flowers are open, carmine speckled with slightly darker carmine, staminodes are large, edges regular, petals red, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, not known if true to type, not self-pollinating, capsules round; rhizomes are thick, up to 3 cm in diameter, coloured white.
