Introduced by E. Chaté et fils, sentier Saint-Antoine, Saint-Mandé, Paris, France in 1863, Canna (Balisier) ‘Annei discolor’ is a medium sized Foliage Group cultivar; dark foliage, lanceolate shaped, upright habit; round main stems, coloured purple; spikes of flowers are open, rose tinged with yellow, staminodes are long and narrow, late bloomer, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, not self-pollinating or true to type, capsules globose; rhizomes are thick, up to 3 cm in diameter, coloured white and purple; tillering is prolific.
Canna ‘Annei discolor’ is no longer available; breeding is unknown x Annei.
