Introduced by R.J. Armstrong, of Longwood Gardens, USA in 1990, Canna (Balisier) ‘Aloha’ is a small Crozy Group cultivar; green foliage, lanceolate shaped, red margin, upright habit; oval main stems, coloured green; spikes of flowers are open, orange-red with yellow spots, staminodes are medium size, edges irregular, petals purple with farina, fully self-cleaning, good bloomer, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, not self-pollinating or true to type, capsules globose; rhizomes are thick, up to 3 cm in diameter, coloured pink and purple; tillering is slow.
Canna ‘Aloha’ is available from specialist growers; breeding is Lenape x open.
