Introduced by Vilmorin-Andrieux et Cie, Nurserymen, France in 1920, Canna (Balisier) ‘Triomphe’ is a medium sized Premier Group cultivar; bronze foliage, ovoid shaped, acute apex, spreading habit; oval main stems, coloured green + purple; round flower stalks, coloured purple; spikes of flowers are open, self-coloured carmine, staminodes are large, edges frilled, petals purple, fully self-cleaning, good bloomer, flowers in late summer until frosts, blooms open in the early morning; seed is low fertile, pollen is low fertile; rhizomes are thick, up to 3 cm in diameter, coloured purple; tillering is slow.
Canna ‘Triomphe’ is available from specialist growers.
Not to be confused with C. ‘Triumph’, which was an earlier introduction by Antoine Wintzer in the USA.
