Introduced by Maria de las Mercedes Ciciarelli, botanist., Argentina, Canna (Balisier) ‘ascendens’ is a tall cultivar; foliage green; spikes of flowers are erect, self-coloured salmon-orange, staminodes are narrow, edges regular, fully self-cleaning, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, self-pollinating and also true to type, capsules globose.
