Introduced by Vilmorin-Andrieux et Cie, Nurserymen, France in 1948, Canna (Balisier) ‘Lauvert’ is a medium sized Crozy Group cultivar; dark foliage, branching habit; oval main stems, coloured purple; clusters of flowers are open, salmon and greenish-yellow, staminodes are medium size, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, not self-pollinating or true to type; rhizomes are thick, up to 3 cm in diameter, coloured white and pink; tillering is average.
