Introduced by Bernard Yorke, Australia, Canna (Balisier) ‘Cancer’ is a medium sized Crozy Group cultivar; green foliage, spreading habit; oval main stems, coloured green; flowers are open, yellow heavily spotted with orange-red, throat orange-red, staminodes are large, edges irregular, fully self-cleaning, good bloomer, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, not self-pollinating or true to type, capsules round; rhizomes are thick, up to 3 cm in diameter, coloured pink and purple; tillering is slow.
