Introduced by Théodore Année, Passy, France in 1860, Canna (Balisier) ‘Musafolia Hybrida’ is a giant cultivar; green foliage, very large, broadly oblong shaped, maroon margin, spreading habit; oval main stems, coloured green; spikes of flowers are erect, self-coloured red, staminodes are long and narrow, edges regular, petals purple with farina, fully self-cleaning, average bloomer, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, not true to type, self-pollinating, capsules round; rhizomes are tuber-like groups, coloured purple; tillering is prolific.

Canna ‘Musafolia Hybrida’was awarded Award of Garden Merit at RHS Canna Trials, 2002 as C. ‘Musifolia’; is available from specialist growers.

Very similar to C. ‘Musafolia’, only differing in having much thicker stems and foliage is a deeper green. Le Canna – ChateThor Dalebø
