Introduced by Raik Marquardt, Canna (Balisier) ‘Charise’ is a medium sized Crozy Group cultivar; mid green foliage, ovoid shaped, acute apex, branching habit; spikes of flowers are open, canary-yellow with orange-red spots, throat canary-yellow, staminodes are medium size, edges regular, labellum is red-orange with canary-yellow stripes, stamen is red-orange with an orange-yellow blush, style is red-orange and orange-yellow, petals yellow, fully self-cleaning, good bloomer, flowers in summer until frosts, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, not self-pollinating or true to type, capsules globose; rhizomes are thick, up to 3 cm in diameter, coloured white and pink; tillering is good.
